Mission Statement

To perpetuate Coach Robbie Robinson's spirit and the qualities of life he embraced by annual recognition of civic, academic and athletic accomplishments.

You may have known him as "Coach" or "Robbie." Either way, you knew his enthusiasm for life, the passion with which he tackled every endeavor and the courage he gave those around him to try to do the same.

If you are a Swarthmore High School graduate, he may have influenced you on the gridiron, in gym class, through baseball or lacrosse, the Varsity Club and pep rallies, monitoring the cafeteria and Saturday night dances, or swimming at Swarthmore Swim Club. Maybe his involvement with West Chester University gave you a chance to experience his gratitude for and loyalty to his alma mater.
Or perhaps it was through the Rose Tree Summer Festival, the Hero Scholarship Fund or the Bicentennial Celebration that you felt his commitment and dedication. He mentored so many on life and the joy of giving and succeeding - if you attended Swarthmore, lived in the borough or the county, this man had a positive impact on your life.

Millard Robinson passed away on June 9, 1999, but his memory, his accomplishments and his impact on all of us will never be forgotten. With this in mind, a group of us has formed the Coach Millard Robinson Memorial Fund. The goal of the Fund is primarily twofold. First, to perpetuate his name and memory for all of us for whom his spirit, energy, knowledge and dedication means so much. Second, to award citizen/athletes recognized for their responsibility and achievements as athletes, citizens and humanitarians.
The Committee intends to fund a substantial annual scholarship for a deserving Strath Haven senior (Strath Haven High School represents the merger of Swarthmore and Nether Providence High Schools). In addition, the Committee plans to award through the Delaware County Football Coaches' Association, a Coach Millard Robinson "Most Valuable Player Award" and a West Chester University award will be established to carry on his commitment to the school and its foundations.

The Fund committee made up of Coach Robbie's family and former student/players has established the criteria and eligibility for these awards. The Chester County Community Foundation, which manages over 40 memorial and scholarship funds, will administer the Fund. The awards will be funded by the interest earned so that the principal can remain intact. This will insure that support of Coach and his Memorial Fund will continue in perpetuity.
